When was number plate issued?
From 1st January 1904 it become compulsory for every motorcar to be registered with a number plate. This came about 5 years after Dutch authorities first introduced the idea to the world. The first mark to be issued in London was the simple, bold, A1 and this was registered to Earl Russell.
When did 67 plates come out?
From September 1st 2017 new '67' registration number plates will be introduced with all new cars manufactured after this date sporting the updated information. The number is referred to as the car's age identifier.
How do you tell the year of a vehicle by the VIN?
The 10th character in the 17-character VIN represents the vehicle model-year. This standard applies to vehicles built in or after 1981. Before 1981, the VIN format was not standardized and varied by manufacturer.
